Easy Makeup Updates for Fall

Writer: Sarah WalshSarah Walsh

As the leaves start to change, so should your makeup routine! Fall is the perfect time to refresh your beauty look with just a few simple adjustments that embrace the season's rich, warm tones and cozy vibes. Whether you're heading to a pumpkin patch or a casual evening out, these easy makeup updates will help you transition seamlessly into autumn.

1. Rich, Warm Eyeshadow

Swap out your summer pastels and bright colors for earthy tones like burnt orange, deep plum, or rusty browns. These shades add depth and warmth to your eyes, making them pop against the soft golden hues of fall. An added bonus: red/orange hues bring out blue and green in your eyes! Don't want to commit to a whole eye look? Try smudging a burgundy or deep purple eyeliner along the lash line for some eye-popping definition. For brown eyes, I love navy blue or purple liner (trust me).

2. Bold, Berry Lips

Nothing says fall like a bold lip, and this season, rich berry shades are the go-to. From deep wine hues to vibrant cranberries, a berry lip instantly elevates your look and gives it a polished, seasonal touch. Matte or satin finishes work best for these shades, as they stay put all day long. Need help narrowing down the perfect shade for you? Schedule a consult with me!

Quick Update: If you're hesitant to go full-on, try a lip stain or tinted balm for a more subtle wash of color that still captures the fall vibe.

3. Glowing, Dewy Skin

Fall may bring cooler temperatures, but glowing skin is always in! Look for more hydrating formulas that keep your skin luminous and fresh. Opt for a creamy foundation or a light tinted moisturizer, and finish with a liquid or cream highlighter to keep your skin looking healthy and radiant. Prefer less steps? Try a flexible concealer on top of your moisturizer and SPF.

Skin Tip: As the weather gets drier, use a hydrating primer or mix a few drops of moisturizer/serum into your foundation for that extra glow.

4. Defined Brows

With the richer tones of fall makeup, your brows can take center stage. Opt for a fuller, more defined brow using a brow pencil or powder to fill in sparse areas. A strong brow frames the face beautifully and balances out the deeper, more dramatic makeup looks popular this time of year. Use a very thin pencil to mimic hairlike strokes.

Quick Fix: If you're short on time, just use a tinted brow gel to enhance and shape your brows for an instant, polished appearance.

Fall is the season of transformation, and your makeup bag deserves a little refresh to match! With just a few small changes, you can create effortlessly chic looks that capture the beauty of autumn. Whether you’re going bold with a berry lip or glowing with luminous skin, these easy makeup updates will have you looking perfectly polished for the season. Shop my picks below.
