It's the weekend!
Treat yourself with a little at-home facial by following these steps.
Set the Mood: Create a relaxing atmosphere by lighting a candle, or putting a soothing blend into a diffuser, or playing soothing music.
Cleanse: This is your first cleanse of the facial! Remove your makeup with micellar water and/or your favorite cleansing oil, and follow up with a gentle cleanser. I love Stratia's Velvet Cleansing Milk for dry skin, and La Roche-Posay Toleriane Gel Cleanser for more oily skin types. Really get in there! Don't be shy to massage your face while you're cleansing. For extra spa vibes: remove your cleanser with a warm towel!
Exfoliation: Now you can go in and exfoliate! Chemical exfoliation (using acids to dissolve the "glue" holding dead skin cells to your face) is the preferred method as it is more gentle. These come in the form of serums, toner/pads, or even cleansers. Not sure which is the right option for you? Book a consult with me and I'll point you in the right direction! For when you need a little scrub action, I love this BOJ mask!
Mask Time: Post-exfoliation, slip on a hydrating mask! This one from Patchology is soothing and hydrating, but my all time favorite is this one from Round Lab! For extra hydration and spa vibes, break out some cryo globes, or a face roller to move your lymph and encourage blood flow! Make sure you let the mask sit for 10-20 minutes. Remove the mask and tap in the remaining essence--apply to your neck and decollete as well!
Massage Away: When applying your products, take a little longer! Use light tapping motions with your fingers to aid in absorption.
Hydrate and Moisturize: Finish off your mini facial by applying the rest of your products (don't forget your neck and chest). This is best done before bed, but if you do this in the AM, remember to apply LOTS of sunscreen since you just exfoliated!
